An EU long-term resident permit is intended for foreign nationals who have legally and continuously resided in Poland for at least 5 years and meet additional formal conditions.

The permit is granted for an indefinite period, while the residence card is issued for a fixed period and must subsequently be replaced.

How is the required period of residence counted?

Various legal grounds for residence in Poland may be counted towards the required 5-year period.

Important information: residence must be legal and continuous. The lack of required documents may result in a request for them to be supplemented, and failure to provide them within the deadline may result in the application being left without examination.
